Mr. Edward J. Goldsmith departed this life on May 20, 2022, due to a sudden illness. He was born in Andalusia, Alabama on October 22, 1936 to Eddie Goldsmith and Esther Mae Williams. His family relocated to Niagara Falls, New York where he attended elementary and high school.
Edward confessed to Christ at an early age. As an adult he has always had an active church life, including Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church. His most recent church affiliation was with Friendship Baptist Church where he served as an usher until 2020. He was a member of the National Usher Board Association for several years. Edward had a unique, caring way with people and enjoyed life with an everlasting smile.
Edward retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation with 28 years of service, he also worked at Edward Funeral Home for over 20 years. Most recently, he worked with T.L. Pickens Mortuary Services, Inc. for over 15 years.
As a young man, Edward met Lillian C. Goldsmith they were married for 45 years until she departed this life in 2002. Edward was predeceased by both parents, his sisters Esther Pearl(Claude) Hamilton, Rose Lee Scarbrough, Eliza(Herbert) Jemison; sister-in-law, Lennie Jorden; brothers Lotha Goldsmith, Ernest Goldsmith; brother-in-law, John C. Middlebrooks; his son James E. Johnson.
