Junius Lee Jackson, Sr., “Bubba,” 86 ,of Buffalo, NY, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Uniontown, Alabama to the late Jake and Marylou Jackson on December 6, 1937. Bubba was the oldest son of 9 children from the union. He diligently worked to help support his family on their land until he set off to Buffalo in 1956.
In Buffalo, Bubba worked for Sears, the Chevy plant, and J.H. Williams before opening and becoming the proprietor of Jackson’s Corner Mart, Enterprise with his wife Flora in 1980. They served the community in their store throughout the late 90’s.
Bubba met the love of his life, the late Flora (nee Cody) in 1959. The two married in 1961 and from their union, they had 4 children, the late Joseph, Jennifer, Jeuanita, and Junius Jr. They were lovingly wed until Flora’s passing in 2007.
Bubba was creative, a scholar at storytelling, and had a great memory. He had a passionate relationship with food and loved to cook. Bubba excelled at fixing and building gadgets. Bubba loved the blues and owned a guitar. His all-time favorite musician was BB King. He loved babies. Bubba enjoyed watching game shows and being “in the know” of the entertainment industry. His favorite team was the New York Yankees. Growing up in Alabama, he’d listen to their games over the radio.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Flora, his son Joseph, as well as his siblings Rosalee and Robert Lee Jackson “Chat”. He was also preceded in death by his close friends and family Ace Banks, Uncle Coleman, and John Brown. He is survived by his children Jennifer, Jeuanita, and Junius Jr.; his grandchildren Phoenix (Deylan) Brown, Kalyx (Maria) Jackson-Pinheiro, and Raiah Brown; his sisters Luedelia Grant, Dorothy Mae Jackson, Arlene Norfleet, Geraldine Jackson, Claudia Jean Myers, and Sherry Lavon Yelder; his friend and cousin, Ernest Croom; friends and in-laws James Wilcox, James (Betty) Cody and Bernice Cody; friends Jeff Wagstaff, Les Brown, Sonny Bragg, and Claude, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a pillar in his community, a good man to all who knew him, and will be dearly missed.
