Rev. Arthur H. Boyd is a preacher extraordinaire and a trailblazing visionary. He is the Senior Pastor of Second Chance Ministries of Buffalo, NY and he is the founder of GROUP Ministries (God Recognizes Our Ultimate Potential), located on Jefferson Avenue.
Rev. Boyd is the eldest of 6 children born to the late Elease and Hubert Boyd. Rev. Arthur H. Boyd gained his spiritual foundation at First Shiloh Baptist Church and was educated in the Buffalo Public Schools.
In 1984, Rev. Arthur H. Boyd owned and operated The New Price Is Right; located on Jeferson Avenue from 1984 until he started Group Ministries in 1991 where he is the President/CEO, for individuals suffering from HIV/Aids and drug abuse in the African American Community. Rev. Arthur H. Boyd knew and understood the blight of the needs of the community, and he always had the mindset to help others.
As a result of Group Ministries, Rev. Arthur H. Boyd answered his call to the ministry. He was licensed in 1987 and ordained in 1989. He is the former associate member of Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church, which led him to the position of Interim Pastor. He also served as assistant Pastor to Pastor Heshimu Sparks of Word of Life Christian Fellowship for five years and pastor over the Wounded Healers and Prison Ministry at Calvery Baptist church for 3 years.
In January of 1999, in manifestation ofthe vision given to Rev, Arthur H. Boyd by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, Second Chance Ministries was birthed. The word quickly spread about new and non-traditional work and other people became interested and joined. Rev. Arthur H. Boyd was the Shepard of Second Chance Ministries for 27 years, where he was joined by his faithful wife Michelle.
He is truly a man of God and has been gifted with a ministry that transcends cultural and traditional church norms. His diligent efforts have won him numerous accolades. Among them: Outstanding Community Service Award, Emmanuel Temple S.D.A.(1990), Outstanding community Service Award-AIDS Alliance of WNY(1993), Outstanding Community Service Award- Lighthouse Interdenominational Ministries (1994), Black History Month Award-C.G.F. Health System (1998), Community Foster Award- Foster parent Network (2001), Black Achiever in Industry President Award (2003), Fight against AIDS- True Bethel (2003), Vanguard Award NYAC, President award National Black Commission of AIDS and a Honoree doctor of Divinity Degree in religious Justice Ministry, just to name a few. Pastor Artur H. Boyd's legacy will live on with the lives and hearts that he has touched. His compassion and love for God and God's people will live on. Pastor Arthur H. Boyd was the overseer of Cold Spring Bible Chapel where the pastor is Kenneth Simmons and The New MT. Caramel Baptist church, where the pastor is Steven Easley. His favorite past time was watching boxing matches and his fishing ministry. JOB WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT !
Rev. Arthur H. Boyd is the loving husband of Michelle and the proud father of 6 beautiful daughters, Andrea Lattimore of North Carolina, Chassity Caldwell of Connecticut, Danita Battle of New York, Carmen Parks of Virgina, Angela Boyd and Carmen Alexander of Buffalo. 1 sister Gwendolyn Boyd of Atlanta, Ga, 2 brothers Steven and Randy Boyd of Atlanta, Ga, 1 brother Marvin Boyd of Buffalo, NY. He was proceeded in death by 1 sister Beverly Lipkins. He will be greatly missed by his grand and great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved Second Chance family.
