Yvette Powers Obituary

Yvette Powers was born March 22, 1967 in Buffalo, NY to the late Louis and Betty Jean Powers. Yvette was educated in the Buffalo Public School system. She attended Martin Luther King Elementary School #39 and graduated from Genesee Humboldt High School. At a very young age, Yvette gave herself to Christ and was baptized at Tried Stone Baptist Church. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Yvette loved raising her sons and being the best mother to them. When she wasn't with her boys you could find her at bingo winning. If she didn't win, you could hear her saying “They’re cheating in here. I'm not coming back next week!” then that very next week you would see her sitting in her usual spot. Yvette also enjoyed socializing in her community at the Broadway Market. She loved spending time with family, friends and the seniors. They would go out to eat or enjoy Canal Side. Yvette was a very loving and giving person. Her doors were always open to anyone who needed a place to stay or a meal to eat. If you needed something, she wouldn't hesitate to help. If Yvette had $10, she would give you $5 that's the kind of heart she had. Yvette was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Betty Powers; brother, Darrell Powers and sister, Karen E Stephens. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: sons, Antonio “Tony” Powers, Tysshawn “Ty” Powers; sister, Sheryl Powers; brother, Louis Powers, Jr.; nieces, Denice Williams, Candace Martin, Colette Stephens, Tianna Powers , Starasia Peale; nephews Louis Powers, III, Isaiah Powers, Shaquille Stephens, Edward Childs; best friend, Charlana Thomas as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Repass will take place at one 48 Leroy Ave The family of Yvette Powers thanks everyone for their expressions of sympathy, kindness and during these difficult times.
